Guitarist/Composer John Bruschini Releases
New CD – As You
Were Jazz/fusion guitarist, John Bruschini,
announces the release of his new CD--As You Were on the Cathexis record
label. The music covers a diversity of elements ranging from funky, fusion
grooves to urban, avant-rock to poignant, soulful ballads. As You Were is a collection of
Bruschini’s original compositions. Players on the new CD are Jeff
Hirshfield, (drums), Kip Reed (bass) and Robert Aries (keyboards) with
guest violist, Jim Nolet. John is best known in NYC and Europe for his
long tenure with pianist Cecil
Taylor. He has also performed, recorded and/or toured with Craig Harris, Dave Douglas, Mose
Allison, Denis Charles, Carlos Ward, Charles Persip, Makanda Ken McIntyre,
Akira Tana, Butch Morris, Sonny Simmons, Myra Melford, Cyro Baptista,
David S. Ware, Dave Kikoski, Wilber Morris, Dennis Irwin, Warren Smith,
Jon King, Antoine Roney, Jeff Williams and Gerry
Brown. In a review of one of Bruschini’s NYC gigs, Jazz Now magazine said, “John’s
an amazingly reflexive musician. He’s got a quick mind and superb creative
instincts…a joy to listen to…tunes were consistently fine, as were his
scorching, blues-drenched solos. Al Dimeola would give his hair weave for
John’s chops and imagination.” With the agility to move freely through
diverse musical idioms, Bruschini has performed in New York City venues
such as The Knitting Factory, S.O.B.’s, The 55 Bar, CBGB’s and the Guggenheim Museum. He has
been featured at major venues in Europe including the Saalfelden Jazz Festival in
Austria, the Stadtgarten in Cologne, the Vilhsofen Festival near Munich
and the Joan Miro Art Festival in
Palma de Mallorca. For more information on Bruschini and to hear
